Grand Geneva Resort’s Mountain Top Ski Area

Grand Geneva Resort's Mountain Top Ski Area Map

In our continued quest to ski more locally, this weekend Munchkin and I headed up to Wisconsin, to ski Grand Geneva Resort’s Mountain Top. Sunday was their final day of the Winter season, and for $10 lift tickets, we couldn’t resist.

With so much snow this season, it’s not necessary, but The Mountain Top offers skiing and snowboarding all winter long with their snowmaking capabilities. You can take skiing and snowboarding lessons and rent equipment if you need. If there’s someone in the party that doesn’t want to hit the slopes, have them rent snow shoe equipment. Up late? Night time skiing is available nightly.

Not a big resort at 30 acres and 18 runs, it does have 211′ vertical, it does have three chairlifts and two carpet lifts (one of which was closed), and varied terrain for beginners and more experienced – not a lot for intermediates. There is also a nice looking terrain park, but the entry is difficult, so we decided to wait until Munchkin is more ready. After skiing the morning away, we headed inside to the Leinenkugels Mountain Top Lodge for hot cocoa and pizza (easily the best value on the menu). There’s also cafeteria style food available as well. We went out for more runs after lunch, crisscrossing the mountain at Munchkin’s whim.

At around an hour and a half away from home, this is definitely doable for day skiing, so we’ll be on the lookout for more lift specials.
