Action Wipes Gear Review

Action Wipes are an Epic Social Adventures partner who provided their product for us to try on Hell Hike and Raft 2015. Walk the Seven Devils for 3 days, whitewater raft the Snake River for 3 days, and you’re going to give any gear one hell of a test. I’m pretty sure everyone had the same results with Action Wipes that I did.

Action Wipes Gear Review

“Inventor Martha Van Inwegen saw the need for a natural wet wipe to clean and refresh the body after a ride, run, hike or a long plane ride. She wanted a body wipe she could use on her entire body, good enough for her whole family and safe for the environment.”

Good ingredients in natural body wipes that are made in the USA – sounds good, right? I was kind of surprised at how many ingredients there were (20) and a few that sounded pretty scary, but Action Wipes does a good job on their website, explaining their sources and allaying my fears.

As we hiked the trails, I took the opportunity to jump in some mountain lakes to rinse off, even taking a full-on soapy bath at one point. In general, I felt pretty clean. That changed pretty much immediately, after a full afternoon of dusty hiking, when we rolled into Hibbs Cow Camp hot, sweaty, and dirty. And…no water in sight, beyond a small rivulet of a stream that didn’t offer even a small pool to sit in. Pretty much I felt miserable at that point.

Enter Action Wipes! Initially I was put off a bit by the suds that magically appeared, but as the grime was removed and the suds disappeared, I became a believer. They really did work; I felt a lot cleaner (not shower clean, but clean enough) and up for dinner and conversation. The subtle smell was short-lived but makes for more pleasant use. I used them again the next morning and felt invigorated. These wipes came out every time I felt I needed a good cleaning. These will be coming along on all our adventure outings for sure.

Repurpose: Even after using the wipes, they kept their shape and felt sturdy. The company suggests washing them out and using them again, perhaps checking your car oil at home, emergency toilet paper while out, etc. High quality indeed.
