These running pants offer comfort and protection in a variety of temperatures. Pair with added layers for colder weather or wear by themselves when more mild temps appear. Really soft, these pants are also comfortable for lounging before or after a workout, or when you just don’t feel like getting dressed in non-running gear. Wind blocking is more than adequate, even during a typical Midwest snowstorm. These pants run a bit bigger than true to size, so you might want to try them on in a retail environment before purchasing.
- Fit: Fitted
- Wind-blocking front panel protection
- Soft elastic waistband”
As all male runners know, protection is the name of the game in Winter – no one wants to descend too far through the levels of what Dirt Dawg calls the Ball Clacking Factor. I’m not a big fan of boxer briefs, preferring tightie whities, but after a few runs in these Equilibrium briefs, I found that the design offered plenty of support and did a great job of offering protection. For most conditions this brief along with the Utopia Pants should be sufficient for most people. The briefs run a tad large, but nearly true to size.
- 3M™ Scotchlite™ retroreflective detail
- Lightweight, stowable windshield
- Polyurethane finger grips, MP3 thumb pad, and flip-back thumb
- MP3-compatible”

Do those pants come with a therma jock? Or in my case a therma butt?
I have those gloves and while I am not a glove wearer, I like those for when it is cold cold. I need new running pants, I love Brooks stuff.
Oh, and I can't wait to see what Emz has to say about your tighty whiteys.
I've had a hard time finding the right gloves this winter. Well, I should say I've had a hard time finding the right gloves in our closet this winter…maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I actually put some time, research, or money into it. Since my iPhone also serves as my mp3, stopwatch, and camera, having gloves where it's easy to get a finger out to use the touch screen is helpful. I may make a note of these for next year…or end of season sales.
I agree with Kate. I too have a had a difficult time with descent gloves this winter. I had to resort to double gloving, which even makes it difficult to just press the start button on my forerunner. These Brooks gloves may just be the trick.
Wait, 30″ inseam? For men? Isn't that a little short? I can just see you running around with your ankles out.
Thanks for the review! Believe it or not, there's a day or two in Houston where we need mittens!
Run Happy!
Our winter is approaching and I hope it doesn't get so cold that I will need any of that.
I tried those gloves on in the store once, they were very nice. I loved the windshield cover… perfect for pushing a jogging stroller in the rain. I still regret not getting them.
These are ankle zipped but does that mean that they are tight on the ankle? I don't want to feel like I'm running in jeans with a loose ankle. In the winter I run in my CW-X compression pants with nothing over top and they are warm and perfect for Texas winters.
Gracie – I have a 31″ inseam, but these pants were even longer, so maybe the 30″ is for size medium.
Jason, these are not tights – I actually didn't notice the zippers, but I never tried getting the pants on or off over my shoes either.
Johann, these are not just for cold weather, but also for cooler, wet weather as well.
I am a “Brooks guy”. A lot of what I own is Brooks, including shoes. But to be honest, I have a pair of Brooks gloves, and like these, they are very functional, but unfortunately, just not that warm. Maybe these are better though.
I'm a Brooks fan. But I don't think I can use the boxers.
The brooks gear looks nice. The biggest issue I have is with pants. I'm short and running pants just do not fit so I always wear compression tights or loose tights so they don't trip me up. It would be nice to find some regular pants I could run in that don't have to be pulled up to my chest to run!
