Girlilla Marketing contacted Laima about working with Carhartt on Women’s Endurance Gear, and she was kind enough to connect me with them as well. Carhartt sent me, at no cost, their Quick Duck Woodward Active Jac.
I’ve always loved real estate and have a fascination with carpentry, perhaps because of my paternal grandfather, who was a union carpenter here in Chicago many years ago (he actually worked on the Sears Tower when it was built!). It seemed like he could build or fix anything. At one point, in the early 90’s, I wanted to start a business buying and rehabbing houses, so I got a job with a local, high-end builder, to learn the trade.
I practically lived in Carhartt for those years, because their duck fabric was incredibly tough but also comfortable, not an easy combination.
It was great to slip into a Carhartt again — still heavy duty material, thick lining, and, new for me, a hood. Initially, I wasn’t sure I liked the hood, but it grew on me and I really appreciated it while carrying our youngest on my shoulders.
“Reach for our Quick Duck™ Woodward traditional jacket when you need to move with ease, and without fatigue. It’s constructed of Carhartt Quick Duck™ fabric. Made of 8.5-ounce, 60% cotton/40% polyester canvas with a durable water-repellent finish, it’s 30% lighter and ounce-for-ounce as durable as Carhartt sandstone duck. The jacket also features nylon lining quilted to midweight polyester insulation. Stow your items is six pockets; two inside pockets, two chest pockets with flaps and snap closures, and two lower-front pockets. The left-chest pocket features a media port that lets you string a headphone wire to a cell phone or media player. For ease of movement, there are ergonomically designed angled cuffs, a pleated bi-swing back, and pleated elbows. The mock neck collar zips up to keep out the cold, a drop tail adds protection, and inner-sleeve rib knit storm cuffs seal in the warmth. Built Carhartt strong, the jacket’s main seams are triple stitched.”
Carhartt is a unique product in that it works great for tough job environments, but also as casual apparel. Add in protection from the elements and this is a great addition to your closet.
