About Coastal Dog Apparel:
“Coastal Dog was founded to create swimwear that was durable, adorable, and fashionable. The company sourced the best fabrics and created original designs made to keep busy bodies comfortable whether building sand castles, body surfing, or chasing the dog down the beach. 100% of profits from Coastal Dog Apparel (swimsuits, baseball caps, clothing, everything!) support charities that focus on helping children in need. When you buy swimsuits from us, you can feel great about your purchases.”
As with many summers for our family, being in and near water will be a priority this year. Whether by my in-laws’ pool, hanging at the beach in Union Pier, or (hopefully) sailing on Lake Michigan, we’ll be in and out of the water many times a week. Along with all the joys that water brings, however, there’s also one menace, which is chafing. I’ve always used bathing suits with a mesh liner (personal preference), but after several hours (let alone a whole day), the mesh can become an irritant. Add in beach sand and the discomfort increases exponentially.
When I received my Coastal Dog bathing suit, I loved the bright red color, as it reminds me of lifeguards and growing up on the beach. Our son has a red bathing suit already, so he’s happy we will be “twins.” (Love that.) The outer shell is a quick drying, light-weight, woven nylon, while the inner chafe-free liner is made of a soft Nylon/Lycra blend which feels amazing against the skin. A functioning drawstring will keep the shorts up when swimming, while the mesh pockets will be handy for storing beachcombed items like lake glass and rocks or shells. I am really looking forward to all the time we’ll be spending by the pool and beach!
These shorts are not only great for the water. They are comfortable and appropriate for casual wear, like at a picnic or barbecue, or heading to a meal at the road house. The chafe-free liner feels great, even for extended wear while walking.
When you buy a Coastal Dog suit your money not only puts community small businesses to work (the suits are made in the U.S. at a local factory) but also supports a local non profit. That’s something I can support wholeheartedly.
