It is almost unbelievable that the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is in less than 30 days! I truly feel like I just left the Winter Market, but a lot has happened and even more is happening this second half of 2015.
If you don’t know, the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is the premier opportunity for the outdoors industry to come together and show off their stuff. From camping and hiking to stand up paddle boarding and Tenkara fly fishing, everybody who is anybody (and those who want to be somebody) set up a booth and hawk their wares.
As a Media person, I get the opportunity to visit with my favorite brands, find new faves, and check out what is both old and new (the best things are timeless). I had such a blast at Winter Show that I knew I had to return for Summer Market – supposedly it’s bigger and gnarlier, so even more energy will be needed. Not a bad problem to have at all.
Yesterday, the first of the #ORShow Twitter chats was held and gave vets and newbies a chance to swap info, tips, and tricks. As someone who falls in neither camp, it was awesome to gain new insight and to be able to give some suggestions as well. You can join in the next three Tuesdays at 11:00 AM (MT).
Post ORShow, there will be a #HikerChat outing, summer version – you might remember my snowshoe excursion from the Winter Market. Then, I’ll be heading directly to Idaho for Hell Hike and Raft, my hiking and whitewater rafting odyssey in the backcountry. It truly will be an epic experience.
Follow me on Instagram to see the gear I’m testing out to bring along. For Labor Day, I’m hoping to get back to Southern Utah for another #HikerChat outing, camping, hiking, and playing in the water for a few days with other like-minded outdoors folks.
For Thanksgiving, I’m planning a family trip to Mt Rushmore – it has been a long time since I’ve been there, but also something that has stuck with me since my childhood. Definitely want to give that same experience to my kids as well. Should be a great second half to 2015.
And then, just like that, it’ll be Hi Honey, I’m Home!
