Stryve Biltong and Trail Mix Review

Stryve Biltong flavors

When I was offered Stryve Biltong to test out for review, I had 2 thoughts: sounds keto and what the heck is biltong? With simple ingredients, 36g protein, 1 g sugar, and no fat in each bag of biltong, it’s not keto but it is clean eating.

Biltong is similar to jerky in that they are both dried meats. The difference, however, is that biltong uses no marinades, no preservatives, and is air dried rather than dried using heat. The texture is different for sure, with biltong feeling much drier than jerky we are accustomed to.

The beef is sourced and produced right here in the U.S.A. The biltong comes in original, zesty garlic, peri-peri, and smoked teriyaki (the only flavor with gluten).

If you’re a beef stick aficionado, Stryve also makes Beef Biltong Sticks – I tried the original flavor and enjoyed it. Drier than a typical stick, not surprising after tasting the regular biltong.

Stryve Biltong Trail Mix

Not sure why I never thought of it before, but adding biltong to trail mix is a really good idea. Stryve’s trail mix is a blend of biltong, whole nuts and seeds. I got to try the original and dark chocolate flavors; it also comes in jalapeño.

Like the plain biltong, the trail mix has no nitrates, MSG, additives, hormones or antibiotics, also no soy, gluten or peanuts. Clean eating and a handy healthy snack to bring anywhere.
